HISTORY OF KIRKWOOD
Kirkwood has been providing ministry camps since 1963. Over their more than 50 years of service, Kirkwood has hosted numerous summer youth camps, adult and youth weekend retreats and mission conferences, as well as scouting events, band camps, nature hikes, family and business events.
Kirkwood wishes to acknowledge the faithfulness and generosity of the many individuals and churches that have dedicated their time and talent to making Kirkwood a place that has shaped minds and made memories for over half a century. We recently have rebranded Kirkwood and changed our name to Kirkwood Adventure Park.
Kirkwood Adventure Park is powered by Matthew 25: Ministries, a federally registered 501(c)(3) international humanitarian aid and disaster relief organization helping the poorest of the poor and disaster victims locally, nationally and internationally regardless of race, creed or political persuasion.
ABOUT MATTHEW 25: MINISTRIES
The mission of Matthew 25: Ministries is to fulfill Matthew 25:34-40 of the New Testament by providing nutritional food to the hungry, clean water to the thirsty, clothing to the naked, affordable shelter to the homeless, medical care to the ill, and humanitarian supplies to those in need. Additionally, Matthew 25: Ministries is committed to fulfilling Matthew 25:40 by educating the public on the conditions and needs of the “least of these” and by providing resources for action.
By rescuing and reusing products from major corporations, organizations, individuals, and manufacturers, Matthew 25: Ministries provides basic necessities, nutritional supplements, educational materials, micro-enterprise supplies and disaster relief across the United States and worldwide. Matthew 25 uses these product donations as building blocks to encourage individuals to help themselves and to develop healthier, more self-sufficient, sustainable communities.
Matthew 25’s Founder Reverend Wendell Mettey and CEO Tim Mettey both have a long and cherished connection with Kirkwood Adventure Park Camp. As an American Baptist Minister and the former Senior Pastor of Montgomery Community Church, Reverend Mettey was dedicated to Kirkwood Adventure Park (then Camp Kirkwood) and the nurturing, formative experiences it provided campers of all ages. His son, Tim, has fond memories of being one of those campers and the many good times he enjoyed at Camp Kirkwood throughout his youth. Wendell and Tim are both excited about what the future holds for Kirkwood Adventure Park. For more information about Matthew 25: Ministries, please visit www.m25m.org
